Traveling Through Memories

It's funny how memories are stored in places we didn't think they would be. The smell of fresh paint on the wall could shift our thoughts to a time when we were children. That one song that comes on our Ipods randomly when we press play. Sometimes, the memories can be so over whelming, and other times, it brings us back to a time where everything was perfect. I store my memories in songs. Every song I listen to, has a different emotion, a different thought that comes out of it. However, when that one song that comes on that has that power to bring back pain and sadness, we begin to spiral down, begin to think back on everything else that related to that time. We sit and ponder the effects it had on us. All the loneliness that we felt comes back with that same force we felt that day so long ago. How could we have let this happen? Could we have prevented this? Could we have prevented this death, this heart break, this frustration? If we were able to, would we be who we are today? Would we be a different person if we didn't walk down these horrible paths? Because memories will always be with us, we can build off of them. Most memories teach us how to be better in things we lack. The best memories are the ones we had the most joy and laughs. But the worst memories are the ones that help us become better people. They are the ones that teach us what we have to do so we don't follow that wrong path again. Memories will always be made, some will be forgotten, some will always be remembered. We just need to know which ones we should forget, and which ones we should hold on to.
